Does anyone have day old bantam chicks in Brisbane? I only want a couple - 3 max. Our broody has been sitting on eggs which haven't hatched and I would like to sneak some chicks under her. If you are close to me in Brisbane, maybe even some incubated fertile eggs would work if they are close to hatching (my daughter really wanted to hatch some eggs). She is still sitting at the moment, and I think it would be ok if I kept them warm for the trip home then put them straight under her. I don't want to start from scratch though as she was sitting for a while before I got these eggs. I would prefer good quality pure breds, wyandotte bantams would be lovely as that is what our fertile eggs were, or rhode island reds, but also interested in other breeds, please let me know what you have. The shed will open at 8.30am for buyers to inspect and the Helmsman auction will begin at 10.00am. This style of auction is suited to buyers. Birds will be sold in breed group lots – eg soft feather, hard feather, ducks, caged birds etc.
Penning can be done on Saturday the 24th July between 6-8.30 am.
There will be a maximum of three adult birds per pen. The club reserves the right to reject any sick or injured birds.
A current FCAQ number is required to sell birds at this auction.

1 doz must be incubated tomorrow so pickup asap $10.00
1 doz able to post tomorrow must be incubated saturday $15.00 + post costs (pickup available)
2 doz that dont need to be in incubator until next friday

Even though the eggs are at the end of their 2 weeks they are still viable the best strike rate we leave ours until almost 2 weeks to collect as many as we can to incubate and we get at least 90% out of our newhampshires they are excellent layers and great breeders.
These must go asap or they will only be good enough to eat (i hate eating good fertile eggs if i can help it as id rather they at least get a chance to hatch)

one has come good but the other 2 are not as well. One is very sick. I noticed last weekend she seemed to be sleeping all the
time. I kept an eye on her and didn't notice any other symptoms. I work long hours during the week and have not seen her
during the first week. My mum was here wednesday and said she did not notice her so she was obviously on the move. Yesterday
afternoon she was sleeping and was not as an agile when I tried to pick her up.
I am new to this so spent several hours last night and this morning reading through posts and can report the following this
morning:
She is worse, tail drooped and head hanging.
Seems bony. I think her crop was full yesterday but seems to be empty this morning. Not confident with this.
Her right eye is frothy and she was having trouble with it yesterday afternoon. She had it closed a lot and the other open.
I have taken several photos of her and poops. I am only confident of one being hers but have concerns about whether she is
contagious and thought the other photos may help to check on the rest of the flock.
The other hysex that I'm concerned with is purely because she also has a frothy eye. She seems okay on all other accounts. Tail is
up, fighting the others for the cherry tomatoes, drinking. It's just her eye that has me worried.

ANSWER: Runny. photo attached. There is only one I can be sure is hers as I have only just seperated her.
Respiratory Changes?- eg. breathing sounds, discharge, laboured breathing, facial swelling
ANSWER: She makes no noises but occasionally is ?gaping. I will attach a photo.
Digestive Changes?- eg. eating, drinking, crop filling & emptying
ANSWER: I think her crop is empty today but uncertain about previously. Tried has gone to the feed dish and water but doesn't
actually eat or drink.
Condition Changes?- eg. Weight, comb/wattle colour, skin, feathering
ANSWER: See photos
Behavioural Changes?- inc. socialising, laying, crowing, broodiness
ANSWER: Sleeps most of the time. Head is drooping today
Agility Changes? - eg. any lameness, favouring, energy levels
ANSWER: Seems to have no energy today. When I picked her up there was no fight, previously there has been a little fight to get
away.

ANSWER: Only had them 2 weeks and produce stores confirmed just wormed and not necessary for 3 months.

ANSWER: No medications. Garlic in the water is the only remedy I have tried.
Other changes? – additions to the flock, diet, housing, extreme weather
ANSWER: there housing is clean and dry. The 10 birds all bought and introduced to the pen at the same time.

I spoke to the produce store I purchased them from as I was concerned she might be contagious but they said the hens still there
were not sick and to see the vet. My biggest concern is she is contagious and obviously i don't want to lose her.
Please any advice would be welcome.

They are laying, but not too well compare to my commercial cross.. averaging about 6 eggs between the 2 of them per week. I
think their poor laying are due to the stress of being peak on all the time, especially when they try to lay in the laying box..
I would like them to go as a pair for $40 so they still have each other in their new home.
